Inside Edge to Take Over Competitive Edge’s Customer Base

Competitive Edge Decision Systems has reached an agreement with Inside Edge, Inc., to transition ChartMine customers to PalmScout, Inside Edge’s handheld-based pitch charting and analysis software solution.

As of July 1, 2004, Competitive Edge Decision Systems is no longer selling or supporting the award-winning ChartMine handheld charting system. By agreement with Inside Edge, ChartMine will be replaced with Inside Edge’s PalmScout. Through the agreement, existing and past ChartMine customers can receive a significant discount on PalmScout.

PalmScout consolidates your charts and saves you time, allowing you to spend more time on the field. It lets you chart pitch type, location, velocity, well hit, direction and game scoring information to an inexpensive PDA instead of to paper. It then turns your charted data into powerful, colorful, graphical reports that are easy to read and use. PalmScout is an outstanding player evaluation and feedback tool, but is also used for scouting weaknesses and tendencies of your opponents. There are versions for baseball and softball.

Inside Edge has been providing pitch chart software and scouting reports to Major League Baseball clubs and media since 1984. You may have seen their reports on the Cubs’ bench or their “Hot Zones” on MLB game telecasts. Founded by Randy Istre and Jay Donchetz, Inside Edge has developed innovative technologies based on pitch charts that have had a profound impact on baseball scouting and player development. Inside Edge currently provides services and technologies to Major League clubs, along with Minor League, college, high school and youth teams.
